 Shanta S. Education |
Shanta lives in rural Nepal. Neither of her parents have any formal education, nor did they have the finances to help her go to school. Fortunately, she was able to receive a scholarship from NCEF so that she could attend high school. Very few people in her village have any education at all, and it is Shanta’s dream to one day provide her village with a school that offers education up to the master’s level. She is currently pursuing her dream to get a bachelor’s degree in education. |
 Sarita T. Journalism |
Sarita T., a highly creative and hard-working young woman, began studying journalism in Nepal at the beginning of last school year, but had to drop out due to insufficient funds. Journalism is a very male-dominated profession in Nepal, so upon learning of her
situation a friend of the Bo M Karlsson Foundation came forward to pay for her schooling for the remainder of the year. Rather than simply rescuing her he encouraged her to apply for our scholarship for the upcoming school year. We are pleased to award her this
scholarship, and hope to continue it throughout the duration of her studies. |

 Sarita S. Electrical Engineering |
Sarita is studying at a technical college to become an electrical engineer, a difficult degree to pursue as a woman from a poor background, as this degree is more costly than most, and longer in duration. She has always been a good student and a hard worker. When she receives her degree, she would like to put her talents into helping her country be more up-to-date in the technological world. |
 Sumita M. Business & Accounting |
Sumita grew up in a household of eight where all she heard were troubles about money problems. She finished first in her class in each grade, which waived her tuition expenses and relieved her family who could not otherwise afford them. When she reached high school, she received a scholarship to attend. This experience led her to pursue a career in business and chartered accounting, a distinctive yet very expensive degree by Nepali standards. There are few female chartered accountants in Nepal and Sumita hopes to add her name as one of the soon-to-be many. |

alternative renewable energy sources and is also interested in making technology available to rural people in her country. |
