Bo M. Karlsson Foundation Application for Scholarship
Award: $500- $2,500 US dollars to selected candidates (one year of support)
Application Deadline: May 1, 2008
Awarded: July 2008
In order to apply for the BMK Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a female resident of Nepal

  • Come from an underprivileged class or great financial hardship

  • Have satisfactory grades to enter a college or trade school

  • Intend to attend a college or trade school in Nepal
    The release of funds is dependent on proof of admittance.
The Foundation requests that each applicant submit the following documents:
  • Preliminary Application

  • Personal Essay
    The essay should be no more than 500 words explaining why you believe you should be a recipient. This essay will be reviewed by the BMK Foundation board of directors and should also reflect the applicant's long-term educational pursuits.

  • A copy of school transcripts from highest level completed

  • Two letters of recommendation; one of which must be from a former, current, or future teacher/professor

  • Copy of the Letter of Acceptance from the college or trade school
A requirement for the recipient is to send an update twice a year about how her studies are going. This may be hand-written or sent via e-mail. Excerpts of what has been written may appear on the Foundation's website. In addition, at the end of the year, we request a copy of her grades. Grades will remain confidential.
